Serena and Venus Williams awarded wildcard for US Open 2026 women's doubles event

Serena and Venus' previous appearance on the same team was at the 2022 US Open, having twice clinched the doubles crown in New York.

Serena and Venus Williams have been awarded a wildcard for the women's doubles competition at the 2026 US Open (30 August-13 September).

The four-time Olympic gold medallists, who played their first doubles match together in four years at this month's Cincinnati Open , will now reunite at Flushing Meadows.

Serena and Venus' previous appearance on the same team was at the 2022 US Open, having twice clinched the doubles crown in New York. Their first joint triumph came in 1999 before they repeated the feat a decade later in 2009.

The women's doubles event takes place from 3-11 September, while the singles main draw - which Venus has a wildcard for - begins on 30 August.

Two of the greatest women players to grace a tennis court, Venus and Serena Williams have never lacked talent, drive, backing or confidence.

There remains one women’s singles wildcard to be allocated; 44-year-old Serena has not yet confirmed whether she will take that or only focus on doubles.

The 23-time major singles champion made a promising return to the US Open on Tuesday (25 August), playing in the mixed doubles championship with Carlos Alcaraz . They won their first-round match before losing the next match to Olympic champion Belinda Bencic and Italy’s Flavio Cobolli .

Serena and Venus have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together, as well as three Olympic gold medals in the women’s doubles competition.
