Behind every research breakthrough are people whose work often goes unseen.

Postdoctoral researchers – PhD holders working on short-term research and

or teaching contracts – bring new ideas, expertise, and perspectives from around the world.

More than 800 postdocs work at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), leading projects, mentoring students, developing methods, building collaborations, and pushing the boundaries of knowledge, often while navigating an uncertain path to what comes next.

Postdoc Appreciation Week, celebrated by universities worldwide since 2009, is a moment to pause and recognize that work.

This year, UNIGE marks the week with a series of activities designed to support, connect, and celebrate them – from a portrait series, to presentations of services offered to them at UNIGE, professional development workshops and social moments.
