Nils Ehlers & Lui Wust win the German men’s beach volleyball championship in Dortmund; Olympic silver medalists win title

On Sunday, the Olerex Estonian Beach Volleyball Championships concluded at Freedom Square in Tallinn. Second-seeded Liisa-Lotta Jurgenson & Eva Liisa Kuivonen triumphed with the women’s national title. In the gold medal match, they achieved a 2-0 (22-20, 21-17) upset of bracket leaders Heleene Hollas & Liisa Remmelg. Hannemai Hanimagi & Marta-Mia Ploomipuu completed the podium after a narrow 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) victory over Maret Kuuse & Laura Liisa Maiste in the third-place game.
Top-seeded Mart Tiisaar & Dimitriy Korotkov conquered the men’s crown. They hammered out a 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) sweep of the final against Urmas Piik & Armin Kender. In the bronze medal match, second-seeded Kaur Erik Kais & Karl Maidle defeated Kulvi Mathias & Jasper Laus by a tight 2-0 (21-19, 21-19).

Nele Barber & Melanie Gernert brought home bronze after a 2-0 (21-16, 21-7) upset of third-seeded Anna-Lena Grune & Janne Uhl in the third-place playoff.
Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist Nils Ehlers and his current partner Lui Wust snatched the men’s crown. The bracket leaders beat Momme Lorenz & Tilo Rietschel by 2-0 (21-16, 21-16) in the gold medal showdown. In the bronze medal game, third-seeded Benedikt Sagstetter & Jonas Sagstetter took a 2-0 (21-19, 21-17) win over Charlie Peters & Colin Alexander Paszkiewicz.
The capital Vilnius welcomed the 2026 Lithuanian Beach Volleyball Championships. In the women’s gold medal showdown, second-seeded Ieva Dumbauskaite & Gerda Grudzinskaite triumphed victorious over bracket leaders Monika Paulikiene & Aine Raupelyte with a 2-0 (25-23, 21-16) upset. Jekaterina Saule & Daniele Kvedaraite occupied the last vacancy on the podium following a forfeit win over third-seeded Ariana Rudkovskaja & Skalve Krizanauskaite for the bronze medals.
Edvinas Vaskelis & Patrikas Stankevicius captured the men’s champions’ title after a 2-1 (21-18, 16-21, 15-11) upset of second-seeded Povilas Piesina & Audrius Knasas in the final. Top-seeded Arnas Rumsevicius & Karolis Palubinskas settled for bronze. In the third-place match, they nailed a 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) shutout of Jokubas Losys & Andzej Savostenok.
Rzeszow hosted the Orlen Beach Volleyball Championships of Poland last week. Third-seeded Zuzanna Michalska & Maja Kruczek sat on the women’s champions’ throne, claiming the title after a nail-biting 2-1 (20-22, 21-17, 17-15) turnaround in the final against third-seeded Justyna Anna Tomala & Urszula Lunio. The bronze went to Patrycja Jundzill & Julia Jaroszczak, who also came back from a set down to celebrate a 2-1 (11-21, 24-22, 15-12) victory in the third-place match against Agnieszka Adamek & Aleksandra Gromadowska.
Second-seeded Piotr Kantor & Filip Lejawa emerged as men’s national champions. They celebrated a 2-1 (21-16, 20-22, 15-10) victory over Marek Subocz & Michal Witkos in the gold medal showdown. Igor Ciemachowski & Kacper Taudul grabbed bronze after a 2-0 (21-14, 21-13) shutout of Jaroslaw Lech & Wiktor Mielczarek for the third place.
The Beach Volleyball Championships of Spain were hosted by Fuengirola. Belen Carro & Paula Soria rejoiced as women’s national champions. They won the final against the second-seeded Spanish-Russian pairing of Tania Moreno & Elena Sviridova by a tough 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 15-13). The bronze medal match was also pushed to three sets and went 2-1 (18-21, 21-10, 15-8) the way of bracket leaders Nazaret Florian & Carolina Fernandez Da Silva against Maria Sevillano & Lucy Ifoma Monteiro.
Top-seeded Alejandro Huerta & Adrian Gavira lived up to their status in the men’s competition and conquered the crown. They mastered a 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) sweep of the final against second-seeded Daniel Moreno & Roberto Sanfelix. Antonio Saucedo & Alvaro Viera completed the podium. They put together a 2-1 (19-21, 21-12, 15-12) comeback victory over Oscar Jimenez & Llorenc Truyols for the bronze.
The Swiss Beach Volleyball Championships in Bern came to a conclusion on Friday and put an end to the 2026 OBI Beach Tour. Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalists Tanja Huberli & Nina Brunner, seeded first, triumphed with the women’s national crown. In the gold medal showdown against the pairing of Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Anouk Verge-Depre with Leona Kernen, seeded second, Huberli & Brunner squeezed out a 2-1 (16-21, 21-14, 18-16) comeback victory. Third-seeded Menia Bentele & Annique Niederhauser claimed the bronze after a 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) sweep of the third-place match against Zoe Fluckiger & Nadine Demierre.
The men’s title was conquered by second-seeded Adrian Heidrich & Yves Haussener. They achieved a 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-10) victory over third-seeded Livio Friedli & Luc Fluckiger in the final. Bracket leaders Jonathan Jordan & Julian Friedli settled for bronze. In the third-place game, they mastered a 2-0 (21-11, 21-11) shutout of Daniel Allemann & Simon Leffler.
The top-seeded mixed Turkish-Russian pairing of Anna Degirmenci & Adelya Akhmetova triumphed at the Bartin stop on Turkiye’s Bioderma Pro Beach Tour. In the women’s final, they produced a 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) victory over second-seeded Ukrainians Kseniia Mazur & Anna Kalchenko. Third-seeded Nursel Yaren Sencel & Humay Firincioglu hammered out an emphatic 2-0 (21-6, 21-15) win over the Turkish-Russian combo of Simay Bayar & Alena Golubeva.
Second-seeded Sacit Kurt & Batuhan Kuru topped the men’s podium. In the final, they took out top-seeded Iranians Bahman Salemiinjehboroun & Arash Vakili in straight sets, 2-0 (21-17, 21-14). Another Iranian duo, Mahyar Ghiassinowghabi & Zargham Mansouri, completed the podium with bronze. They earned a 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) victory over third-seeded Ahmet Can Tur & Tuna Imdat in the third-place playoff.
