Media accreditation open for WBSC Premier12 2027 Barcelona Qualifier
Media registration for the WBSC Premier12 2027 Barcelona Qualifier presented by RAXUS is now open. All members of the media, both local
national and international, who plan to cover the event must apply for accreditation through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at https:
my.wbsc.org by Friday, 2 October .
The accreditation procedure starts by clicking on MEDIA ACCREDITATIONS. The online request form needs to be completed, including a headshot photo.
Once the request is submitted, media members will receive an automated email confirmation that their application has been received.
Another automated message will indicate a “change of status” in the accreditation request.
Media planning to cover the event remotely should contact the WBSC Media Department at media@wbsc.org .
Media members can check their request status after the 2 October registration deadline by accessing my.wbsc.org and clicking SEARCH FOR YOUR ACCREDITATION at the top right of the page. They will then need to enter their first name, last name and email address.
The WBSC will share a protocol for media interviews and other activities with accredited media during the WBSC Premier12 2027 Barcelona Qualifier.
Guidelines for Non-Rights Holding (NRH) Media
Only rights holders of applicable games may transmit game footage (audio and
or video) of WBSC events.
NRH media credentials provide access to official training sessions, games, and Opening
Specific categories will be granted credentials (i.e., Press, Photographer, Radio and TV, Team Media), and stadium access will be given accordingly.
Photographers, NRH TV crews, and Team Media will be required to wear WBSC-issued media vests.
WBSC Premier12 2027 presented by RAXUS
The WBSC Premier12 2027 Barcelona Qualifier will start the qualification journey for the expanded 16-team WBSC Premier12 2027 presented by RAXUS.
World No. 26 Spain will welcome No. 13 Colombia, No. 14 Italy and No. 17 Germany for a four-team round-robin tournament, with each team playing three games. The top two finishers will secure their place in the WBSC Premier12 2027.
The second qualifier will take place from 26 to 28 November in Zhongshan, China , where World No. 18 China will host No. 15 Nicaragua, No. 16 Czechia and No. 20 Great Britain. The top two teams from that event will also advance.
The four qualified teams will join the 12 teams that earned automatic qualification through the WBSC Men’s Baseball World Ranking at the end of 2025: Japan, Chinese Taipei, USA, Korea, Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Netherlands, Cuba, Australia and the Dominican Republic.
The WBSC recently announced that the Premier12 2027 will introduce a new four-stage format featuring an Opening Round, Second Round, Super Round and Medal Round, creating an expanded pathway for the world’s leading national teams to compete for one of international baseball’s most prestigious titles.
Taipei City and Tokyo will serve as two major hubs on that journey. The Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) will host one Opening Round group and one Second Round group in Taipei. The WBSC Premier12 2027 will culminate at the iconic Tokyo Dome with the four-team Super Round and Medal Games.
The WBSC Premier12 2027 will be a key moment in the qualification process for the baseball tournament to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games . The tournament will award two direct LA28 Olympic berths, one to the highest-placed Asian team and one to the highest-placed team from Europe or Oceania.
Three teams have already secured their place at LA28. Host nation USA qualified automatically, while reigning WBSC Baseball World Champions Venezuela and the Dominican Republic claimed the two Americas qualification places through their performances at the World Baseball Classic 2026 . Both teams advanced to the semifinals after memorable quarterfinal victories, with the Dominican Republic defeating Korea and Venezuela eliminating defending world champions Japan.
The sixth and final Olympic berth will be decided at a six-team Olympic Qualifying Tournament, to be held no later than March 2028.

Spain will host the event at the Carlos Pérez de Rozas Baseball Field in Barcelona from October 9 to 11, 2026. The deadline for media registration is Friday, 2 October.
