Nestor Corredor, a former Minor League Baseball (MiLB) catcher and the current Major League Baseball (MLB) Field Coordinator for the Milwaukee Brewers, will manage Venezuela at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2026 presented by RAXUS .

Born in 1984, Corredor played in the Brewers' farm system from 2002 to 2008. He coached in the system from 2010 to 2019 and has been on the MLB coaching staff since 2021. He also managed in the Venezuelan and Colombian Winter Leagues.

Corredor served as the Field Coordinator under manager Omar Lopez at the World Baseball Classic. His staff includes coaches returning from the World Championship campaign in March: manager's assistant Robinson Chirinos, bench coach Victor Martinez, and hitting coaches Carlos Beto Mendez and Miguel Cabrera . Pitching coach Luis Meza, Third-base coach Juan Francia, first-base coach Dennis Malave, bullpen coach Juan Graterol, bullpen catcher Javier Bracamonte, strength and conditioning coach Cesar Yépez, chief athletic trainer Joan Fernández, and sports director Francisco Cartaya complete the staff.

Lopez participated in the selection process as the Venezuelan Federation (FEVEBEISBOL) Olympic Cycle Advisor.

The staff has extensive MLB playing experience. Cabrera was a 3,000-hit and 500-home-run hitter and a Triple Crown winner. Martinez has been a five-time All-Star catcher; Chirinos played 11 MLB seasons as a catcher; and Graterol is another former MLB catcher.

Méndez is on the Atlanta Braves coaching staff, while Bracamonte has won the World Series as the Houston Astros bullpen catcher. Malavè, a former minor leaguer, has served as the Cleveland Guardians' bullpen catcher.

"When Omar Lopez gave me the call, he presented the project and made me realise how serious this project is," Nestor Corredor said. "I am taking it on with a great sense of commitment."

The selection process started with a pool of 300 players, and the current expanded roster features between 55 and 60 players.

"Everybody wants to be part of this, so it will be difficult to make it just 24 players," added Corredor.

"Depending on how many players we select who are on Venezuelan League (LVBP) active rosters, we will organise the final part of the preparation," commented Lopez. "We may open camp four days before the event if everyone on the team is on LVBP rosters or 12 days if nobody is on the LVBP rosters. For sure, we will build the best team possible for Nestor Corredor."

FEVEBEISBOL President Aracelis Leon said on a final note: "There are 500 WBSC World Rankings points available at the U-23 Baseball World Cup, and we aim to be on top of the Rankings. This is why we want to field the best team possible. The way 2026 started was a dream come true for Venezuelan Baseball. We want to keep working that way with all our National Teams."
