Four champions crowned at Korea National Softball Championships
Incheon Metropolitan City Sports Council, Sangji University, Seoul Sinjeong High School and Guam Middle School were crowned champions as the 38th National Softball Championships concluded at the Gijang-Hyundai Motor Dream Ballpark in Gijang, Busan.
Organised by the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA), the national competition brought together teams from across the country in four categories, U-15, U-18, university and senior.
Incheon Metropolitan City Sports Council claimed the senior division title, finishing ahead of runners-up Daegu Urban Development Corporation.
Catcher Jung Song-hee led the individual honours after being named Most Valuable Player. She also received the batting award after hitting .667 and the home run award, completing a sweep of three individual prizes. Incheon teammate Choi Yeon-ji was named the tournament’s top pitcher.
Sangji University won the university division, with Dankook University finishing second and Wonkwang University third. Sangji pitcher Im Geum-hee collected both the MVP and top pitcher awards.
Kim Rae-eun of Sangji led the category with six RBIs, while teammate Kang Yoon-seung recorded four stolen bases. Dankook University’s Hong Seo-yeon earned the batting award after going 6-for-11 (.545).
Seoul Sinjeong High School topped the U-18 competition, ahead of Guam High School and third-placed Ilsan International Convention High School. Pitcher Gu Yeon-a earned both the MVP and top pitcher awards for the champions.
Seoul Sinjeong catcher Lee Chae-ha produced the leading batting performance in the division, with a .778 average, while also recording three stolen bases. Guam’s Kim Yu-min led the competition with seven RBIs and teammate Son Yeo-jin received the home run award.
Guam Middle School completed the list of champions by winning the U-15 category, with Chungbuk National University Affiliated Middle School finishing runner-up and Sinjeong Girls’ Middle School taking third place.
Pitcher Hwang Ji-won was one of the tournament’s standout performers, collecting the U-15 MVP and top pitcher awards while also leading the category with 12 RBIs. Chungbuk National University Affiliated Middle School shortstop Kang Su-min received the batting award after going 8-for-12 (.667), as well as the home run award, while Guam’s Kwon Min-song led the category with eight stolen bases.
KBSA President Yang Hae-young praised the players and coaches for their performances in challenging hot-weather conditions and thanked the organisations that supported the staging of the tournament. He also reiterated the association’s commitment to developing softball infrastructure and strengthening the country’s international competitiveness.
