CLAIR offers interdisciplinary expertise in artificial intelligence, language and linguistics, multilingualism, education, digital literacy, human-AI interaction and responsible AI, with particular expertise in low-resource and multilingual contexts and the Western Balkans. - Full Description - The Institute for Cognitive, Language and AI Research (CLAIR) is an interdisciplinary research organisation based in Kosovo, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, language, education and society. CLAIR is interested in participating in European research and innovation projects where its expertise can contribute to research, co-design, implementation, validation, stakeholder engagement, dissemination and impact activities. The Institute can contribute expertise in: artificial intelligence and human-AI interaction; responsible, inclusive and trustworthy AI; multilingualism, language and communication; low-resource languages and culturally diverse contexts; digital literacy and AI literacy; education, training and capacity building; social and behavioural dimensions of digital transformation; stakeholder engagement and participatory research; living labs, co-creation and knowledge ecosystems; qualitative and mixed-methods research; communication, dissemination and exploitation; research and innovation activities in the Western Balkans. CLAIR is particularly interested in Horizon Europe projects addressing the societal implications of artificial intelligence and digitalisation, inclusive and human-centred innovation, education and skills, multilingual and culturally sensitive technologies, social inclusion, responsible AI and sustainable digital transformation. The Institute can support projects requiring interdisciplinary approaches combining technological development with social, linguistic, educational and behavioural perspectives. CLAIR is also interested in contributing to the design and implementation of living labs, participatory research activities and stakeholder-based validation of emerging technologies. Its location in Kosovo provides an opportunity to incorporate a Western Balkan perspective into European research projects and to facilitate engagement with universities, public institutions, civil society organisations, education providers, communities and innovation stakeholders in the region. - Advantages and Innovations - CLAIR’s main added value lies in its interdisciplinary combination of artificial intelligence, language, education and societal research, allowing technological developments to be examined not only from a technical perspective but also in relation to human interaction, language, culture, education and inclusion. The Institute can contribute to research and innovation activities involving multilingual and low-resource language environments, where data availability, linguistic diversity, cultural context and digital inclusion may present specific challenges. CLAIR can also support the development and assessment of human-centred and responsible AI approaches by integrating stakeholder perspectives, participatory methods, qualitative and mixed-methods research, and analysis of social and behavioural dimensions. Depending on the project and consortium structure, CLAIR can contribute to: Research and analysis: qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research addressing the human, linguistic, educational and societal dimensions of AI and digital transformation. Human-centred AI: assessment of human-AI interaction, user needs, trust, inclusion, accessibility and responsible use of AI. Multilingualism and language: research involving multilingual environments, low-resource languages, language diversity and culturally sensitive AI applications. Education and skills: development and implementation of digital literacy, AI literacy, training and capacity-building activities. Living labs and co-creation: organisation of participatory research, stakeholder consultations, user engagement and co-creation activities. Pilot implementation and validation: engagement with relevant stakeholders and communities in Kosovo and the Western Balkans to test and validate project results. Regional transferability: contribution to comparative research and transferability of European solutions to Widening Countries and Western Balkan contexts. Dissemination and exploitation: communication, stakeholder mobilisation, knowledge transfer, dissemination and exploitation activities.
