sustainED 2026: an online space to reflect, share and recharge
An online conference for teachers
This November, we are organising the second edition of sustainED 2026, an online event for educators, trainers, and others working in education. The programme combines a panel discussion with a series of practical workshops, bringing together speakers from different educational backgrounds and areas of expertise.
The event was created around a simple idea: when we talk about sustainability in education, we are not talking only about environmental topics. We are also talking about the conditions that allow people to keep learning, teaching, creating, developing and contributing over time.
This perspective is reflected in the programme itself. This year’s panel discussion focuses on teacher well-being, burnout prevention, cognitive health, and the role educational institutions can play in supporting their staff. Questions such as where individual responsibility ends and institutional responsibility begins are becoming increasingly relevant across educational settings, and they rarely have simple answers.
At the same time, sustainED is not intended to be a conference centred on a single topic. Education is complex, and the things that make our work meaningful are rarely limited to one area. That is why the programme also includes workshops on creativity, cognitive skills development, extensive reading, reflective practice, and improvisation in the language classroom. At first glance, these topics may appear unrelated. Yet they all touch on the same question: how do we continue to grow as educators while maintaining the curiosity and energy that brought us to education in the first place?
One of the reasons we enjoy organising events like this is the opportunity to bring together people with different experiences, teaching contexts, and professional interests. Whether participants come looking for practical classroom ideas, professional inspiration, or simply an opportunity to hear how others approach similar challenges, the conversations are often just as valuable as the sessions themselves.
We would be delighted to welcome members of the EPALE community to join us for this year’s edition of sustainED 2026.
