The Toros had the best record in the LMB regular season (60-31), and the lineup features former Major League Baseball (MLB) stars such as 2020 World Series Champion Justin Turner and former San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees slugger Franch Cordero. Infielder Isaac Rodriguez played for Mexico at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Infielder Phillip Evans and catcher Alì Solis helped Mexico win a bronze medal at the WBSC Premier12 2019.

Tabasco started the postseason with a 4-2 win against the León Bravos in the Primer Playoff . In the Southern Division semifinals, they needed seven games and a dramatic comeback after falling 3-1 in the series to overcome the Oaxaca Guerreros. They faced Puebla Pericos, the winners of the semifinal against the defending champions Mexico City Diablos Rojos, in the Southern Division final. After losing the series opener, they won four straight games to advance to their first Serie del Rey since 1993.
Left-handed slugger Seth Beer, who played 43 MLB games for the Arizona Diamondbacks between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, is the biggest threat in Tabasco’s lineup. He led the team in home runs (15) and RBIs (64) during the regular season. Former Boston Red Sox infielder Marco Hernandez led the Olmecas with a .315 batting average. Former Cleveland Guardians slugger Oscar Gonzalez is a late addition to the roster. He posted a .340 batting average in 25 games. Outfielder Randy Romero stole 40 bases. The bullpen has proved a strength for Tabasco. It’s led by 41-year-old veteran Fernando Salas , a WBSC Premier12 2019 and 2024 alum.
