The Curve GMX+ V2 Has Sliding Dropouts, More Mounts, and Fits a 3” Tire

Curve has released an updated version of its do-it-all monster gravel bike, the GMX+. Now with sliding dropouts, slimmer tubing, scaled geometry across eight sizes, and more, the GMX+ V2 is built to handle almost anything. For more on what’s new, read on below…

Released in 2020, the Curve GMX+ launched with massive tire clearance, plenty of mounts, boost spacing, and a carbon fork of the brand’s own making. Inspired by overlanding vehicles, the bike was said to be the ideal option for riding almost anywhere. It wasn’t the best at any one thing, but the frame’s versatility helped make it a true jack of all trades. Now, nearly seven years after its original release, the Curve GMX+ V2 aims to raise the bar.

The primary changes to the GMX+ are in the dropouts, geometry, and sizing. The GMX+ V2 uses the same sliding dropout mechanism as the second iteration of Curve’s UpRock model, a modular system that allows modern drivetrain compatibility. The stock setup is compatible with SRAM UDH drivetrains and has a 160 mm flat brake mount with Boost spacing. Through detachable dropouts, however, the frame can be configured for a wide range of combinations, including Rohloff, SRAM T-type, UDH, and, of course, a hangerless singlespeed, thanks to the 20mm of adjustment in the slider.

The geometry has been relaxed with more stack, shorter reach, and other changes that give the bike a more upright fit. Curve took the time to design a complete set of sizes, with eight options from XXS to XXL. Each features different chainstay lengths and slight tweaks that make the ride more consistent, with each size optimized around 2.6” tires. Per the brand, “That is what most GMX+ riders are actually using, and it also lines up nicely with wide tire availability right now. There is still room for 3.0-inch tires for loaded missions on sandy desert roads when you need them.” Up front, the GMX+ v2 is built around their Seek 430 FM fork. It’s a low axle-to-crown fork with an 8-kilogram capacity on each fork leg and 29“ x 3.0” tire clearance.

Elsewhere, they used slimmer rear tubing, kept the cable routing external, redesigned the bottom bracket yoke, and added to the array of mounts available on the first version of the GMX+. This version features mounts on the top tube, the sides of the downtube, the back of the chainstays, plus rack mounts on the seat stays, in addition to the typical mounts on the inner triangle and fork blades.

Like the original GMX+ release, the V2 is currently available only in titanium, with a steel version to follow. Framesets start at $3,640 USD, and complete builds range from $6,280 to $8,270. Because of the fluctuating tariff situation, customers outside of Australia should check the resources Curve has listed on its product page to confirm the final cost at delivery.
