New applications for CiCLO Technology with HeiQ and ADVANSA

( CONNECT ) Intrinsic Advanced Materials ( IAM ) is expanding the application of its CiCLO technology through collaborations with HeiQ Materials AG from Schlieren in the Swiss canton of Zurich and ADVANSA Marketing GmbH , headquartered in Hamm, Germany, as has been reported in a statement . The company, based in Rapid City, South Dakota, has developed an additive that is integrated into polyester and nylon fibers. When microplastic fibers from these materials later enter end of-life environments with moisture and microorganisms, their biodegradation is expected to accelerate, thereby reducing their time in the environment.

Together with HeiQ, IAM is now investigating how CiCLO fibers can be paired with functional textile technologies. Depending on the application, this should enable the textiles to regulate heat and moisture, dry faster or reduce odors and allergens. Bedding and apparel are cited as potential applications. “Combining HeiQ technologies with CiCLO fibers gives developers more flexibility to create products around the performance benefits their customers value,” said Mike Abbott, EVP of Advanced Materials and General Manager at HeiQ USA .

At the same time, ADVANSA is introducing a fiberfill under its Suprelle brand made from CiCLO fibers. The fiber supplier is targeting manufacturers of bedding and home textiles as well as the hospitality industry. The products are designed to offer cooling or moisture-regulating properties and down-like comfort, among other features.
