european-atlas-seas_… Description The European Atlas of the Seas is an interactive, web-based mapping tool created by the European Commission and powered by the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) that provides public access to data and information about Europe’s marine environment, coastal areas, and blue economy. Organised in collaboration with the Network of European Blue Schools, this webinar introduces the powerful educational impact of this resource and shows how to effectively use it in the classroom. During this interactive online session, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Atlas firsthand and discover practical ways to integrate it into teaching and modules in ocean literacy. The focus will be cast on: - what the European Atlas of the Seas is and how to navigate its catalogue of more than 270 map layers; - how to explore map layers covering topics such as ocean observation, marine litter, and fishing activity; - how to create and customise your own maps; - how to embed maps on websites, eTwinning groups, and other platforms; - how to access and use the Teachers’ Corner, a user-friendly educational tool featuring ready-to-use map-based exercises for different age groups; - educational games and interactive quizzes available in the Atlas; - the Map of the Week series, allowing to learn something new about the ocean every week.
