WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup alum Ichiro Cano earns Florida State League All-Star Honours
Cincinnati Reds prospect and two-time WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup participant Ichiro Cano has been named the Florida State League’s top third baseman by Minor League Baseball (MiLB).
The switch-hitter enjoyed an impressive season with the Single-A Daytona Tortugas, recording 109 hits in 367 at-bats for a .297 batting average, with seven home runs and 64 RBIs across 110 games. He made 95 appearances at third base.
Born in San José del Cabo, Baja California, in 2005, Cano developed at the Alfredo Harp Academy before representing Mexico on the international stage. He was Mexico’s starting third baseman at both the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2021 and the edition in 2023 .

Cano began his professional career after signing with the Mexico City Diablos Rojos of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB). He made his first-team debut in 2023, appearing in six games, and also played five games for Mexican Pacific League (LMP) champions Culiacán Tomateros .
The Cincinnati Reds signed Cano in February 2024 . He began his career in the Reds organisation in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League in 2024 before playing in the Arizona Complex League in 2025 and earning a promotion to Daytona later that season.
Cano has continued to gain experience in Mexico during the winter, playing 18 games for the Tomateros in the 2024-25 LMP season and a further 44 in 2025-26.
