Natürlich geht es um The Wombats, die ihren ansteckenden Indie-Rock seit über 20 Jahren in die Welt tragen. Ihre Geschichte begann 2003: Sänger Matthew Murphy und Schlagzeuger Dan Haggis studierten damals am Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, das von Paul McCartney - dem Mitbegründer dieser anderen Liverpooler Band - ins Leben gerufen wurde. Dort lernten sie den Bassisten Tord Øverland-Knudsen kennen, der frisch aus Norwegen nach Liverpool gezogen war. Nach ersten EPs eroberten sie 2007 mit ihrem Debüt-Album „A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation“ die Indie-Rock-Szene der 2000er im Sturm. Das Album schaffte es auf Anhieb in die Charts und die Band tourte 18 Monate um die Welt. Ihr Gute-Laune-Indie war tanzbar, hypnotisch und schlicht sympathisch. Die Single „Let’s Dance To Joy Division“ ist mittlerweile Pflicht auf jeder Indie-Party. Und anders als viele ihrer damaligen Weggefährten haben The Wombats ihr Momentum nie verloren: Auch das elektronisch angehauchte „This Modern Glitch“ brachte 2011 mehrere Singles in die internationalen Top Ten. Mit „Glitterbug“ gelang ihnen dann erstmals der Sprung in die USAlbum-Charts. 2018 folgte mit „Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life“ eine deutliche Rückbesinnung auf ihre Pop-Rock-Wurzeln - und das trotz der der Herausforderung, inzwischen über London, Los Angeles und Oslo verteilt zu leben und daher neue Wege im Songwriting und Recording finden zu müssen. Dass sich dieser Wandel gelohnt hat, zeigte 2022 ihr erstes Nummer-1-Album „Fix Yourself, Not The World“. Nach einer Reihe erfolgreicher Singles erschien im Februar 2025 ihr sechstes Studio-Album „Oh! With 23 covers, it delivers an intimate dining experience with a menu designed to reflect Tom’s life experience and career which has seen him work at some of the world’s greatest restaurants. Using ingredients sourced from British suppliers, diners are only given poetic hints as to what each dish is from the menu. “They’re given a little clue as to what they’re getting,” says Tom. “We try to create a sense of nostalgia for our guests, giving them a memorable journey.” When you’re aiming to meet the standards expected of a Michelin starred restaurant, choosing the best possible equipment is a vital piece of the puzzle. Ensuring your tableware, glasses and cutlery are in peak condition is a vital part of any restaurant aiming to be the best, which is why, when Tom was looking for a dishwasher, he chose a PT passthrough dishwasher from Winterhalter. “We needed something that was 120% reliable,” he says. “In terms of our equipment, the dishwasher is probably the most important thing here, as we totally rely on it. “We have a lot of plates and crockery, a lot of china, and some pieces are very fragile,” he explains. “We needed something that was easy to manage and use, that could handle anything from kitchen equipment to our most delicate pieces of tableware.
