Regnet, StMELF) Bayern räumt dem Waldnaturschutz und insbesondere dem Schutz der Waldvögel eine große Bedeutung ein. Dabei unterstützt der Freistaat die bayerischen Waldbesitzerinnen und Waldbesitzer mit Informationen und Empfehlungen. Ein ganz konkretes Beispiel für die Hilfestellung ist die neue Praxishilfe der Bayerischen Landesanstalt für Wald und Forstwirtschaft „Waldvögel in Bayern“. Die Broschüre fasst dabei nicht nur das aktuelle Wissen zu 48 waldnaturschutzfachlich relevanten Vogelarten zusammen, sondern liefert für jede einzelne Vogelart konkrete Tipps, wie sich der Artenschutz bei der Pflege und Bewirtschaftung von Wäldern integrieren lässt. „Wer den Wald als Ökosystem für kommende Generationen erhalten will, muss ihn klug bewirtschaften und gleichzeitig seine Artenvielfalt bewahren. Genau dafür steht unser Bayerischer Weg ‚Schützen und Nutzen‘. Die neue Praxishilfe zeigt praxisnah, wie sich Vogelschutz in die tägliche Waldbewirtschaftung integrieren lässt – mit praktischen Informationen und konkreten Maßnahmen, die den Wald als Lebensraum stärken und zugleich eine nachhaltige Nutzung ermöglichen“ so Forstministerin Michaela Kaniber. Orientierung für die Praxis Vögel gehören zu den am besten untersuchten Tierartengruppen und sind wichtige Indikatoren für intakte Lebensräume. Etwa die Hälfte der heimischen Vogelarten in Bayern brütet in Wäldern. Als Weiser für Biodiversität und Waldlebensräume stehen Vogelarten auch auf europäischer Ebene besonders im Fokus. Entscheidend sind häufig konkrete Waldstrukturen: Höhlenbäume, Totholz, lichte Waldbereiche, mehrschichtige Bestände, strukturreiche Waldränder oder die Verzahnung von Wald, Wasser und Offenland. Die Praxishilfe übersetzt dabei wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und naturschutzfachliche Anforderungen in verständliche, praxisnahe Empfehlungen. Herzstück der Praxishilfe sind 48 Steckbriefe zu den wichtigsten Waldvogelarten mit Angaben zu Lebensraumansprüchen, Verbreitung, Jahresverlauf und praxisnahen Erhaltungsmaßnahmen. Prägnante Abbildungen der Vögel und ihrer Lebensräume sowie Links zu den wichtigsten Lautäußerungen erhöhen die Anwenderfreundlichkeit. Vom Artenwissen zur konkreten Maßnahme Ein besonderer Mehrwert für die Beratung und die praktische Waldbewirtschaftung liegt in den übersichtlichen Maßnahmentabellen und in der Zusammenschau wichtiger Waldtypen. Dadurch lässt sich schnell erkennen, welche Strukturen besonders bedeutsam sind. Der Erhalt von Biotopbäumen und Totholz, eine vielfältige Baumartenmischung, kleinere Bestandslücken, strukturreiche Waldränder oder störungsarme Bereiche in sensiblen Zeiten können wichtige Beiträge zum Schutz der Waldvogelwelt leisten. Die Praxishilfe macht aber auch deutlich: Waldnaturschutz gelingt nicht ausschließlich über Schutzgebiete, sondern auch und vielleicht sogar wirksamer durch integrative Maßnahmen bei der Waldbewirtschaftung auf der ganzen bayerischen Landesfläche. Die Veröffentlichung richtet sich an Waldbesitzer, forstliche Berater, Försterinnen und Förster sowie an interessierte Personen aus Naturschutz und Öffentlichkeit.
